As time goes, humans come up with new inventions, which improve the quality of our lives. One of them is an internet which is an amazing and intimidating place as well. It can help make you dream come true, and it can be your worst nightmare. I believe that internet is a global phenomenon and embrace all aspects of modern life from conduct business, shopping and to be able to communicate with other people daily. In the click of your mouse, you can order ipod or interesting books and have it delivered to your house. However, the internet is also a place where people have an opportunity to commit crimes. Computer thief is not a person who is wearing traditional stocking mask over his face or carrying a gun. He enters your computer, accesses your personal information and disappeared long before you notice that something is wrong. The only good thing about this is that you don't wake up with a bump on your head or any other injury. There is a little it can be done to prevent identity crime. Despite being careful about what personal information you may become a victim of identity theft. Criminals are everywhere on the Internet and just waiting for a person's mistakes to still money and to go on shopping sprees, open new accounts or take out auto loans in your name. Therefore, it is necessary for a strengthen the sense of awareness about the information, we send to different people. Another reasonable solution would be to send our data encrypted, which can be read by those specific individuals, who are intended to receive information and be capable of decrypt it.

Advice to Baruch College

Baruch College is a great school. However,I would recommend some changes to improve quality and flexibility of education. One of them is to create more classes on line.It allows students to work at their pace because all of us have different learning styles. In addition,it would be very helpful option for students who work full time because it enables them to study material in the way that works best for them.
My second advice to Baruch College is to improve computer courses and divided them into two components lab and lecture. The lecture part should explain the computer terminology and concepts. The lab part should give students some hands-on experience, especially with a computer program like C ++ or Java. I believe these computer courses together with the lab provides a background that should be useful for students and help them in their future careers.

Twitter Discussion

I really enjoyed twitting with my colleagues. I could follow students and be followed by them. They provided me with useful and funny information. I believe that Twitter is a great place where people can start discovering and sharing information with others. However, as I used the blackboard or in class discussion, I don't have to limit my answers to a certain number of words, and I could find a little bit difficult to convey a piece of a message that fits into 140 characters. Moreover, It is sometimes to intimidate to participate in class discussion. Therefore, I prefer to twitt in my own comfort zone

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

Nowadays, computers are very essential elements of people's life because it has been used constantly at homes, schools or work places. Modern computer technology can literally take us to other worlds and different dimension of reality referred to as a virtual technology. It is also allowed users to be engaged in a world that is sensitive to the user’s sight, hearing and touch. There are different ways that advanced technology can be used. Many universities have set up virtual campuses where students can meet, attend classes or take place in various students' activities. This technology has also an enormous impact in the health care system as well. For example, using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can give us a very detailed imagine of the brain structure and quickly detect any abnormalities. Moreover, according to article “Naughty Auties, Battle Autism With Virtual Interaction”(2008),people who suffer from brain disorder like autism or Asperger's syndrome can benefit from using computer interaction to communicate with other people which can significantly contribute to improvement of the syndromes. It is also helped to reshape a business relationship. In real life, it takes hours to move back from one meeting room to another. In virtual worlds, the whole team can be quickly transport to another working locations in a matter of seconds. However, people spend more time in front of computer screens, and I believe that there has been a reduction in personally communication between them. Moreover, number of studies had shown that most human communication is not based on their verbal but non verbal communication through the internet. The virtual world can foster creativity because users can manipulate and create or interact with objects or people, which are similar to real world experiences. I truly believe that education, entertainment or workplace will be greatly transformed by virtual reality and will put it in a driver's seat of countless industry.

Social Networking

In the past, the only way for people to be involved with social networking was to attend meetings or events that were designed for individual to meet other people. Because of advances in technology as internet, there is now more efficient way to meet people or conduct business on line. It is obvious that all types of companies can greatly benefit from social networking sites by advertising their businesses for free or low costs and uploading interesting videos, publishing advertisements to reach broad range of customers. Many successful marketers are using social marketing tools to promote business and build a network of friends with a common interest, while offering support, advices or exchange information and earning income. Social networking websites are being used by millions of people, and it's become a part of everyday's life. Most of the social sites contain directions of some categories such as former classmates, tools to find friends or simply to join to the specific group of people to share common interest or hobbies. One of the interesting futures about social networking is that members can create their own web page and post their profiles to expand their circle of friends. Moreover, healthcare professionals use these sites to share information about diseases, the way to cure them and share their information about latest developments in medicine. Charities and non profit organizations also use them to request varies aids as food, medicine or clothes for people in need. Social networking sites are known as online communities where people can be connected with each other. Unfortunately, these sites became also the stomping grounds for many on line predictors whose desire is to find a way to harm other people, especially teenagers. Therefore, the best way to protect youths is to educate them about the danger that exists out there.

Check Out Social Networking Sites

Over the past few years more and more social networking sites have been developed. Some of them have grown into gigantic communities, fulfilling their purpose to allow users to communicate with friends, strangers or even seek job opportunities in the comfort of their homes. I have recently visited few social networking sites and compared them to each other. Some of the important names in social networking would be Myspace, Facebook, Friendster and LinkedIn. I became a member of a Facebook about two years ago. In the beginning, the website seemed to be open mostly to college students. Over the years, I could observe how rapidly the site has been growing as time progressed. Apart from the fact, that Facebook site became available to all users and has added various applications as music, dating or games in order to reach a broad range of population. It is also provided significant information for curious employers, who are looking for future candidates. While accessing other sites as Friendster, I notice that it can be viewed as a “mini Facebook” because it has a similar user’s interface and profile layout. In contrast, Friendster is much less popular than Facebook, and it has been using to meet "Stranger" rather than to socialize with friends. Another well known site that I want to mention is Myspace, which remains one of the biggest social network giants with 200 million members. It is also open to all comers. Moreover, it turns itself into the platform where other companies may launch their own applications and Internet services. Facebook and Myspace sites allow users to do different kind of things. For example, Myspace puts heavy emphasis on new media as music video and films that have not been a leading part of the Facebook experiences, which is more about communication efficiency. I believe that MySpace targeted younger members as teenagers, high school population and give them an ability to create desired background or upload the favorite songs. When it comes to social network sites it appears that everyone is obsessed with Facebook, which seems to become more popular than MySpace website. However, I also want to bring up another great site, Linkedln. It is a primary career network which is designed to capture all professionals from "cradle to grave". But, when compare it to the Facebook site it seems that Linkedln doesn't offer any multimedia or attractive graphics, but it is still an incredible system for recruiting and business networking.
