Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

Nowadays, computers are very essential elements of people's life because it has been used constantly at homes, schools or work places. Modern computer technology can literally take us to other worlds and different dimension of reality referred to as a virtual technology. It is also allowed users to be engaged in a world that is sensitive to the user’s sight, hearing and touch. There are different ways that advanced technology can be used. Many universities have set up virtual campuses where students can meet, attend classes or take place in various students' activities. This technology has also an enormous impact in the health care system as well. For example, using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can give us a very detailed imagine of the brain structure and quickly detect any abnormalities. Moreover, according to article “Naughty Auties, Battle Autism With Virtual Interaction”(2008),people who suffer from brain disorder like autism or Asperger's syndrome can benefit from using computer interaction to communicate with other people which can significantly contribute to improvement of the syndromes. It is also helped to reshape a business relationship. In real life, it takes hours to move back from one meeting room to another. In virtual worlds, the whole team can be quickly transport to another working locations in a matter of seconds. However, people spend more time in front of computer screens, and I believe that there has been a reduction in personally communication between them. Moreover, number of studies had shown that most human communication is not based on their verbal but non verbal communication through the internet. The virtual world can foster creativity because users can manipulate and create or interact with objects or people, which are similar to real world experiences. I truly believe that education, entertainment or workplace will be greatly transformed by virtual reality and will put it in a driver's seat of countless industry.
